In a previous topic I discussed a pretty simple way of making some extra gold. Today, I thought I’d revisit the concept of gold making with another simple trick. I’ll warn you, this one involves an end-game Jewelcrafter.
My Priest happens to fit this bill. He has for quite some time, though it’s taken some time for him to have at least a couple of epic cuts to work with. While he has 8-10, you really only need one to get you started.
Take your cut(s). Look at the Auction House and look for two things: the cost of the gem in its base form and the going rate of the gem once cut. On occasion, you’ll see a 10-15g difference. Most often, it’s double that (more if you’re lucky).
Now, don’t go crazy. You’re thinking, ten gems would net me “x00” gold. If there’s one side note you need to always remember it’s never flood the market! Instead, put up one of each cut you have that is currently listed at a profit that you’d like (remember the AH cut). I go with 25-30g or higher for my profits. Again, I have 8-10 cuts. So, that means if my gems sell, I’m making 170-300g a day for just a few minutes of work.
On occasion you’ll have one or two that end up not selling because a few monkeys undercut you. Hang on to it or re-list it. As long as you make said profit eventually, who cares? You’ll be out 2g for a 24 hour auction, which you’ve made up for with the other ones that sold in the same time.
