You know how you have seen racist player names? I have seen terrbile pet names, and have reported them. Not sure why one can’t name a dog Dog, though.

Oh, I’ve seen terrible pet names as well (which you can report, by the way). But trust me, there was NOTHING offensive about the dog’s name. That it was reserved was what surprised me.

Oh, I know that was nothing offensive – that is weird.

I wonder if that’s new? Something to do with Mists? Well, now I’ve got to go out with my Hunter and find a new pet to name and see if they’ll let me, lol.

It’s been like that for ages. I’ve seen a list somewhere, will try and find it.

That’s an awesome piece of reference right there. Some make sense to me, others not so much but c’est la vie I suppose.

I never knew that, I guess all the names I’ve picked weren’t reserved.

I’ve never had a problem but I know my husband did at some point in vanilla, can’t remember what he wanted to call the pet though.

Yep I remember them implementing that a long time ago only because the same thing happened to me

I wanted to name my ravager Skittles but the game said it was reserved. 😦 I can only imagine that’s because it’s a brand name. So I named him Skittle instead. It makes sense, because there is only one of him after all.

That kinda makes sense to me. I’m surprised at Drake, simply because of how common (I think) it is.

      • khizzara May 11, 2012 / 2:17 pm

Maybe Blizz figured it was too common and are trying to encourage creativity? Otherwise, I have no idea why they’d ban “Drake”. Unless it’s because the young dragon NPCs are called drakes? Who knows.
