2013 in review

I received the annual notice from WordPress today with the number crunchings from the last 365 days.  Given that I spent many of them nowhere near authoring anything around here, I was still pleasantly surprised.  The site averaged over 5 thousand visitors a month which, again for someone who wasn’t posting anything, is great to see as it means what I have written over time is still useful or relevant.

I knew the review would come and I had been looking forward to it just to see how it looked.  My hiatus dropped the traffic immensely and so has not posting as much (ok, almost nothing) transmogrification ideas.  It happens to be one of those things I just haven’t been able to take the time to do.  Since coming back I’ve been too busy with my WoW time.

But as the new year kicks off, I’m still pleased to see so many have maintained interest and in some cases come back to reading this blog after I resumed writing it with some regularity again.  Hopefully you’ll continue to enjoy reading as I continue to enjoy writing.  I wish you all the best this year and if you have a curiosity that needs fixing, some of the details for the blog can be found below.

Here’s an excerpt:

Madison Square Garden can seat 20,000 people for a concert. This blog was viewed about 63,000 times in 2013. If it were a concert at Madison Square Garden, it would take about 3 sold-out performances for that many people to see it.

Sheesh, now that you’re posting again you’ll be through the roof next year! Happy New Year!

Eh, hopefully I’ll at least rebound a bit. I mean, it’s obviously not why I write, but I like to think I was doing pretty good before stepping down and that’s a goal I can try to aim for.

I also went on hiatus, but I did not get this many! You were a huge help with my blog and probably many others I’m sure, so that is awesome!

That’s really humbling for you to say. To be honest, I feel like I’m in the lower end of the blogging spectrum after having been away and I honestly felt that way even before I left. I guess I underestimate the blog’s success or popularity. But to hear that I help other blogs makes me quite happy even though I may not even realize I’m doing it.
