The Lunar Festival is underway once again in Azeroth. Longtime readers will know this is my favourite of the in-game holidays. I’m big on Chinese New Year, but also on remember my Elders who have passed on in life. This combines both of those things, so naturally I am pleased. The nice thing about the first day of the festival is everyone will get the introductory quest that sends them to Moonglade, where you subsequently summon Omen for Elune’s Blessing. Of course, beware of the chaos that also comes with a day like today. Not only will the quest NPC be buried in a sea of mounts, a few flagged players will also wreak havoc when Omen himself shows up and thus turn the area into a giant PvP zone (for those on PvE servers, of course).
The other thing to note is that today is officially the five year anniversary of Eluney Toons. Some people will know what that is, because I’ve talked about it in the past. However, odds are you don’t because nobody was around for it and it changed it’s name long before it became popular. Aye, it’s Amateur Azerothian. It’s funny, because it feels like I’ve been writing the blog for far longer than that and I don’t mean that in a negative light. It simply means that five years seems like a small period of time to encompass all the things I’ve written.
This time last year it looked like the sun was setting around here but as you can clearly see that simply did not happen. Now I’m back in full swing, and in many ways trying to feel like the same writer of all but through the eyes of a new player. Trust me, it’s true. But even while I was away, I watched visitors still come to the blog. Some followed it, some liked it, and others seemed to grab some transmog needs and move on. Regardless, I’m flattered folks have come knocking over the past five years and I’m incredibly thankful for those who continued to follow even when it looked like I was just about gone. For some, I know that’s due to Posthumous and rest assured I’m not done with that. I would like to finish it before Warlords of Draenor, but I make no guarantees. On something like that I’m not setting a deadline.
So while I think back on the five years that’s been, both in Azeroth and real life, and pay respects to all my Elders, just know that I’m sending some thanks your way. Maybe a little karma, too. Whatever brightens up your day just a little bit, that’s the mood I find myself and it seemed to be one worth sharing.
