Visiting Talador, One Explosion At A Time

This is literally me rolling through Talador these days.  Well, it was until yesterday.  Now Zarahi is prowling Spires of Arak.  But still, Talador will be the land of explosions forever and always.  No, not from the Battle of Shattrath City.  Let me back up a moment.

In continuing with the Garrison aspect of the story, when you arrive in Talador your outpost building choices are an Arcane Sanctum or an Arsenal.  It’s common knowledge coming into Warlords that I knew less than nothing about Garrisons, so as it pertains to Zarahi I just went with what I felt like.  No rhyme or reason.  But in the case of the Talador outpost, the decision seemed like an easy one.  Why?  The benefit:

You gain three charges of Artillery Strike, each charge takes 3 minutes to recover. It deals 25k to 38k three times on the area on the ground you choose.

This just seemed like too much fun to pass up.  What I didn’t realize at the time was just what the magnitude of that was.  End up with a swarm of mobs in one of those fluke moments?  Kaboom.  The Wanted posters (at least Horde side)?  More boom.  There’s a three minute cooldown, sure.  But as you’re questing and traveling about, that time passes quickly.  Particularly when you have almost no reason to use up all three charges in that quick of a time span, other than perhaps gits and shiggles.

I know the question has to be asked.  If the Arsenal does that, what does the Arcane Sanctum do?  Honestly, so far it doesn’t matter.  Did I mention BOOM?

    Um, the arcane sanctum does, um … yeah, it’s not nearly as exciting.

      Now that I’ve looked it up, I guess it has it’s practical side but the Arsenal strike is both practical and just plain fun.

    I’ll have to go back because I never found that spell but right now she’s too busy in the Spires of Arak. Al least the spell from the smuggler’s thing appeared on my bar.

      Do you have your other “garrison spells?” Whatever you set your spell at, changes to your outpost spell for whatever zone you’re in (so my Artillery Strike becomes Hasty Hearth in Spires of Arak).

        Oh, I’ll have to go back and see if my Spires of Arak spell changes now that I know where it is I’d like to blow stuff up!
